Rumble Pants I: Championship Round

logo.jpgWhat is Rumble Pants? Well, the Panteon has decided to play at god once more. We take a few select comic characters and pit them against one another for our amusement, but we figured why keep the fun all to ourselves? So we decided on a format that would require your participation and will hopefully provide amusement for you at the same time. The format is a single elimination tournament with weekly rounds decided by you, the reader. Just keep reading to help decide the ultimate fate of some of your favorite comic characters!

finals.jpgThis week it’s the Championships! Just vote in each of the Villain Division match-ups and each of the Hero Division match-ups to keep your favorites in the tournament. Remember, this isn’t about who would be most likely win in each fight; it’s about who you want to win each fight and advance to the next round. Click the bracket thumbnail above to the side to see how the tournament has progressed so far. Next week will be a whole new bracket! If you don’t see your favorite characters in the tournament, don’t worry, we’ll be doing a whole new brackets after we crown an overall champ.

Harley has this in the bag. You just can’t keep a good clown down.

  3. Why it’s down to the battle of the fan service babes. Imagine that, one might think we’re a bunch of comic book nerds. ;)

Voted for Harley, even though she took down “Ze Lepair”, mostly cause I’m more familiar with her than squirrel girl.

first time in my life my vote has mattered. Harley currently up by 1%. (Can I go on claiming to be a Marvel Zombie if I’ve never read a comic in which Squirrel Girl appeared?)

Darkseid and Dr. Strange got robbed!!!

Here’s how I see the last match going down. Darkseid shows up in the Rumble Pants arena, sees Harley, thinks about obliterating her with Omega Beams, but there’s something about her that he likes, and he just can’t do it. Harley, being somewhat damaged in her choice of men, likes him, and they go off to Apokolips to spend some time together. A jealous Joker follows via Boom Tube, and though Harley honestly can’t understand what he’s so upset about, she doesn’t want to hurt her “puddin’” so she hits Darkseid over the head with something heavy and Apokoliptian. He can’t bring himself to destroy her, but he also can’t have her around screwing with his head, so he Omega Beams the Joker into oblivion and sends Harley back to the wrong Earth, where she meets up with Squirrel Girl, who has been anxiously awaiting the arrival of her opponent after she managed to beat Dr. Strange.

Meanwhile, Adam Strange is over at a house in Greenwich Village, talking with a very confused asian butler, and trying to figure out what he means when he says “Your opponent is Squirrel Girl.” Because the notion that Squirrel Girl could beat the Master of Mystic Arts is just stupid. And Squirrel Girl, alone in the ring, wins by default.

  13. I had a hard time choosing. Gave it to Squirrel Girl because Harley would probably laugh at the gal and the gimmick and end up falling out of the ring and somehow knocking herself out.

The way this ended up was just priceless. Shows we “comic geeks” have a great and twisted sense of humor.

The Batman Animated series, where she was an interesting original character who made a good foil for the Joker and Batman both. Her stories in the DCU have been average at best, but on the Animated Series, she was a great character.

I have more trouble figuring out why everyone finds the one-joke Squirrel Girl so endearing, to be honest. ;)

Its about supporting the underdog, Randy.

A vote for Harley Quinn is a vote for every cheerleader who ignored you in high school, every girl you asked to the prom who “already had plans,” and for communism.

A vote for Squirrel Girl is a vote for Mom, Apple Pie, Truth, Justice, and Baseball.

    ;-)

See, I prefer to think of it as “a vote for Harley Quinn is a vote for hot clown girls” and “a vote for Squirrel Girl is a vote for girls who like squirrels.”

Ew. Now I’m so creeped out I don’t want to vote for either of them. ;)

But if she always wins her fights, then how is she the underdog? Wouldn’t that make her the… overdog, or over-rodent something?

Not on topic, but Underdog fought Overcat for the championship of the Universe. It all started because the Milk Wells ran dry on Overcats planet and they steal all of Earth’s cows. 8)
