Long time lurker, first time poster…. I’m a lapsed reader who’s returned from a long vacation…..

I would enjoy a podcast relating to the Showcase Presents and Essentials Volumes with recommendations, etc. I’ve read a handful and found that they can be really hit or miss.

Also, a Batman in trades discussion with recommendations, etc. There is just so many Batman trades and outside of the obvious ones - Year One, DK Returns - it’s hard to figure out which are the ones to dig into….

* Reviews of recently released comic book adaptations in the cinema or television. The Heroes podcast was interesting.
* Top “5″ or “10″ books, artists, titles have diminishing returns, at least for me.
* Trends are always interesting. What you see coming or happening right now around art, storytelling, industry, etc. and where you think it might be leading.
* I like wrap-ups when a major story/title is over. What was the work trying to accomplish? How well was it done? High points, low points. For something I’ve read, it’s a nice way to relive something and hear if others got something different out of the work. For something I haven’t read, it tells me that I might want to pick it up in trade. You could do this for “The Losers,” “Sleeper,” or “Annihilation.”
* This one caught my attention: Comics that are great but shouldn’t be
* Not really an idea, but one thing I noticed during the Villians podcast was how tightly you stuck to superhero books. What about the villians in DMZ, Y, or Fables? Seems like you could broaden beyond the superhero genre on these “best of” podcasts.
* Also love the “finite endings” idea, especially for characters you love. You could even have them end at a point in the past, before their continuity got screwed up beyond repair. Since many of you love Spider-man, I’d be interested to hear how you would end his story.

I like the idea about discussing the comic decades, like best/worst ideas/writer/artists/companies/stories/characters/arcs/villains/heroes/supporting casts/creative teams etc for the the 50’s, 60’s, 70’s, 80’s, 90’s…

What are the definitive run(s) for long running titles or characters, like Layton/Michelinie’s Iron Man, Fabian Nicieza’s New Warriors, or Englehart’s Cap.

What a comic magazine would look like inbetween wizard and the comic journal with good sales.

Or something to do with the fractured industry superheroes/indie/manga/art comics and a sales chart(s) that included everything

Most wanted masterworks/manga/omnibus/out of print trades etc.

If Marvel/DC comics moved in real time or real time universes/stories

I was seriously bummed when I synch’d my Ipod this morning and there was no new podcast, but I’m glad you guys are getting a break. Better that then have you burn out.

I’ll second previously mentioned topics of:

New Classic: Best comics of the past 10 years. &

Finite Endings: How would you want your favorite stories to end if they had to?

I’d also like to see a discussion of the recent trend of omnibuses (omnibi?), which of these new mommoth tomes of 600+ pages are must haves, and which are for the diehard fans only?

Good luck with the server difficulties guys! Just wanted to say that I really, really dig the podcasts…. so I hope they stick around for a long while. The topic doesnt even really matter to me, its just that I really like to people talking about comics intelligently. For example, I’m not even a Darwyn Cooke fan (I know, I’m crazy) and I just listened to that podcast the other day.

How about discussing great runs on Marvel and DC comics. For example, the Gruenwald Cap run, or Byrne FF, Simonson Thor…. etc.

Pretending every series was finite, how would you like to see each of the major icons’ (Spidey, Supes, Batman, etc) stories end? Or what alternate future stories have given us the best “endings” for said characters?

How about talking over some of the significant events in comics history (e.g. boom and bust of direct distribution, British Invasion, creator-owned characters/Image)? Were they good, bad or indifferent for comics?

Also, which comics character would you most like to be (or just have the powers of) and why?

Some good topics brought up for Podcasts so far, how about some on comic book decades, you know comics in the 70’s, comics in the 80’s comics in the 90’s and so on, what defined that era, what were it’s standouts and pitfalls.

As for topics. I would like the crew to talk about comic companies, we know the stories of DC and Marvel, but there have been many others like Crossgen (which I enjoyed at some point). The topic would be, which comic book companies made it, which failed and why? Also I would love a review of European Comics that may be off the radar and artists to look for.

Seriously, you guys do a great job, so I’ll look forward to your return. A topic suggestion: I second (or third by this point) the idea of how to draw new/younger readers into comics. Maybe a show focusing (at least in part) on the Marvel Adventures lines? And why can’t DC get its act together and do something similar for its big characters (instead of restricting itself to what happens to be on the Cartoon Network)

Agree on the supporting cast topic. Loved the hero & villian discussion, a similar one on non-powered characters is a good idea, especially with Mary Jane and Jimmy Olsen being prominent, although Jimmy seems to have powers.

Industry discussion of bridging new younger readers with the trend to be more “adult oriented” for new readership. How can comics survive if there is not a new generation of readers?

Small companies and there books. Beckett Comics have some great stuff as well as others, your opinion would be interesting.

What is your favorite series that few others seemed to like? I have Silver Sable and the Wild Pack in this list. It should be something like that, a book that was around a while but then was ended. It also would have your comicbook friends ro;;ing their eyes when you mention it.

A podcast (or casts, this could be a returning podcast feature) where you guys look back at the week and which comics it brought. Maybe even including the comic related news the week it brought us, if it’s interesting to discuss about.

Diversification: Why do superheroes still dominate the medium of comics? Why do non-superhero books frequently top the trade paperback charts but barely register on the monthly comics charts? And will we ever see a day when superheroes are just one of a thousand genres associated with comic books?

I’ll have to think more about this, but here’s a few ideas that come to mind:

The New Classics: Comics from the last 5-10 years that could prove to have the same longevity as works like Watchmen, Sandman and The Dark Knight Returns (tough to predict, but fun to speculate)

Comics Dream Teams: Pick your ideal creative teams for the perfect Spider-man, Superman, Batman, and X-men comic (and any others you’d like), free of continuity and scheduling constraints.

Playing God: What books would you love to see get a massive profile boost in the general population the way Sin City, 300, and V for Vendetta have following their respective movies. Not necessarily what books would you like to see made into movies, but what books would you like to see embraced by the mainstream the most?
