The love story is in Vol. 2; it's also in Best of Spider-Man Vol. 2, if you want to go the HC route.

Vol. 4 isn't that great but it does have a nice Albert Dose story in the back and a HILARIOUS Zeb Wells two-parter with Jim Mahfood.

Spider-Man's Tangled Web Vol 4 - Picked this up in a bargain bin and it's here for the Darwyn Cooke & J. Bone Christmas story which i had never read before. Totally made up for no Cooke in the Spirit this week.
Does that also have the Cooke/Bone Valentine's Day story in it? That one was a blast, with a love story for the Vulture, of all people.
It's only got the Christmas story unfortunately :(

In the ad in the back for the other Tangled Web trades, Cooke's name is on the cover to Vol. 2 so I guess the valentine's story is in that volume. A love story with the Vulture by Cooke & Bone? Sounds amazing. Totally gonna have to seek that out now.
Love and Capes #4 is number four on Dan's list! Wa-hoo! Seriously, I've been hoping the book would be in the Top Five sometime. I'm glad it made it.

Now to finish the last four pages of #5...
I got hooked on the book out of the package you sent the store for Free Comic Book Day, Thom. I absolutely love it- even ordered one of your shirts. I spent all that day convincing people walking by that they needed to take it and try it, and our supply disappeared fast. Randy tells me several people came back afterwards wanting more, too, so it did its job. That package was a great idea.

1. Captain America - Another great issue. Brubaker's my favourite writer right now, with the exception of UXM, he can do no wrong at the moment. Epting & Perkins are turning great work too, really like the idea of them handling different chapters of the story and their work is perfectly suited to one anothers

2. Incredible Hulk - While I enjoyed the first issue of World War Hulk, I couldn't help but feel that it's gonna be nothing more than a 5 issue fight scene. The last 2 issues of Hulk have gone a long way to allaying those fears though and Amadeus Cho is the best new character around. Hopefully marvel will keep him around long after World War Hulk.

3. Agents Of Atlas HC - Picked this up on my travels and absolutely loved it. Re read the moment I had finished it too. Great story, art, characters and the strong sense of history were the reasons i really enjoyed it. Great package too

4. Iron Man #19 - For the cover alone. Best cover of the year so far.

5. Spider-Man's Tangled Web Vol 4 - Picked this up in a bargain bin and it's here for the Darwyn Cooke & J. Bone Christmas story which i had never read before. Totally made up for no Cooke in the Spirit this week.

Hey!Glad you got the new issue, Randy... and glad you enjoyed it.

Captain America was a great issue... although for a brief moment, I thought Sharon became Dazzler!! The Spirit was great too, but I really get bummed-out when Cooke isn't handling the art chores.
Wait, Yotsuba 4 is out? Really, or do you have the retailers advance copy?
It's out... and I really need to read this manga soon, given how beloved it seems to be.
Hellblazer and Cap were too much setup, B&TB was hampered by the overall lameness of Lobo, and the Spirit was hurt by no Cooke. Still, I generally love these books and this would qualify as a top 5. Oh wait, that's 4.
I generally agree with you, but while Spirit was weaker, I thought the Palmiotti/Bernet story was really good, if not quite up to Cooke's high standards. Cap, though, I was pretty pleased with, but maybe that's because I really liked some of the setup, especially Sharon back in her white jumpsuit and ready to jump back into action and stop moping.

Wait, Yotsuba 4 is out? Really, or do you have the retailers advance copy?

Strange week for me. I barely buy any floppies, but they all seem to almost always come out the same week: Hellblazer, Brave & Bold, Spirit, and Captain America. This week, however, every single one of these titles (while still good) was down a notch or two from their usual high quality.

Also, I'm nearly done Tezuka's Buddha Vol. 1, with Vol 2 in the mail. This could end up being one of the best things I've ever read.
