I’ve used dreamhost, lunarpages, and many other budget hosts and the only one I can recommend without reservations, is mediatemple.com. I have never had any outages or problems and they have lots of features on the backend.

Dreamhost I currently use (it basically came down to price for the package I wanted) and they are also very good, their support is slightly less responsive but they have excellent one click installs for a lot of software packages. They did have problems and changed their location site last year, but I have been with them for going on four years now and would recommend them quite happily.

I will second this, while Dreamhost are not as reponsive, and their back end management has a little to be desired. I highly reccomend them to anyone who needs a cheap quality host.

I have used both Dreamhost and Lunarpages in the past.

Lunarpages support is excellent and their hosting was mostly very good, but I did have problems in the first couple of weeks as I was on the same server as someone who was basically killing it with their site. I would happily use them again and think they would be a great match for the site, as they very obligingly did the hard work transferring existing data from another server when I changed hosts to use them.

Lunarpages. They’re rock solid, and really affordable. All my web clients use them. About $100 a year, and free domain hosting. And they have WordPress as a simple install.

And, if you do, there’s a link on the links page of the thomz.com site, and I get a kickback. Full disclosure and all.

iquesthosting.com - Haven’t had any issues in years with them since they bought my previous web host.

I’ve been using WebFaction for 6 months and I definitely recommend them. Stable servers and best customer support I’ve ever seen !

Since I just helped a friend who had similar experiences with his old host to move his site, I´m gonna recommend MediaTemple.

And reportedly Dreamhost is pretty good also.
