I am button masher proof. I never had any gaming systems, but constantly beat my friend by just mashing buttons rapidly. He would get so frustrated he would switch to games that were more pick plays or racing which I sucked at.

regardless of the voting, I think the comments that go along with it offer the most entertainment value. Where else does one get the button-masher theory of the Joker or the action vs. contemplation discussion for 2 martial arts heroes?

Shang-Chi, while probably more skilled than Iron Fist in basic martial arts, is also prone to speechifying and DEEP CONTEMPLATION, so Danny Rand would likely knock his teeth out before he could get past “Once again I am called to play these games of-WWWWWWHHHHHHHHRRRRRRRFFFF!”

LOL. Yep, Dan has nailed it, that’s *exactly* why I vote Iron Fist over Shang Chi. Iron Fist is a man of action, Shang Chi is a man of angst.

And Nick, I love the Joker as button masher metaphor.

Here’s my idea about the Joker’s fighting ability. If you’ve ever played a fighting game (Tekken, Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, Killer Instinct), when you go up against an opponent that knows what he’s doing, then you know what to expect. He’s going to do the 15-20 hit combos, all of the special moves, and everything that’s already been established. When you go up against a “Button-Masher”, or an opponent that has never played the game, there’s a good chance that he or she’s going to kick your ass.

So, I guess what I’m saying is that The Joker is the button-masher of the DC Universe. He’s unpredictable, that’s why he’s such a big threat.

oh man you hit my switch with this question and I admit my reading shows there’s no really good answer but since I like making lists so much here goes in the 1975-6 joker series the following stuff happens
1. IN this stroy he gets beaten up two face (wimpy)
2. he kills wille the weeper who was based on the old BULLET MAN BAD guy the weeper (DON’T know but feels wimpy
3. he TOTALLY WUMPS ass on CREEPER (THAT makes him tough as Batman right?
4 He gets beaten up badly by Green arow but falls off the Golden gate brigw with breaking any bones

In the Black Widow vs. Iron Fist match-up I just see Fraction and Brubaker’s IF pulling away. Come on, mystical martial arts powers have to trump super-spy right?

Of course, this is from someone that had never read an IF story before the current take–so I’m sure there are years worth of stories where IF’s powers aren’t quite as impressive.

Randy, I always kinda considered Shang-Chi and Iron Fist on level ground martial arts wise. The fist of iron thing is a gimmick in a way. Give Shang his props, he is able to take IF down. Black Widow is so underestimated. She would not be above slapping an explosive on IF’s back. She would win.

What last round tells us is that DC has better villians, and Marvel has better heroes.

I gotta disagree, Palladin. Black Widow may be a dirty fighter, but Iron Fist is maybe the best martial artist in the Marvel Universe. I think it’d be a good fight, but he’d take her.

Shang-Chi vs. Iron Fist? Interesting, but because of mystical powers/training over actual Kung-Fu and spy skills, I’d give that one to Iron Fist as well. It’d be like Bruce Lee against someone out of a Hong Kong action movie… real skills vs. cinematic usually leans toward cinematic skill victory, because they can do cool, crazy, over-the-top stuff.

I know this is a popularity contest, but Black Widow would destroy Iron Fist. He is not a dirty fighter. She will cheat and play all dirty tricks and he loses.

A Shang-Chi/Iron Fist match up would be cool.
