Rumble Pants VI: Elite Eight

logo.jpgWhat is Rumble Pants? Well, the Panteon has decided to play at god once more. We take a few select comic characters and pit them against one another for our amusement, but we figured why keep the fun all to ourselves? So we decided on a format that would require your participation and will hopefully provide amusement for you at the same time. The format is a single elimination tournament with weekly rounds decided by you, the reader. Just keep reading to help decide the ultimate fate of some of your favorite comic characters!

It’s the second round of our “Supporting Cast Slugfest,” and the first round was very interesting. Captain Gordon took down Captain Stacy (prompting great cries of “Who?” from much our audience) in the biggest case of pwnage Rumble Pants has ever seen (poor Gwen’s dad got only 10 votes) and there were similar beatdowns for Perry White, Edwin Jarvis and Snapper Carr. Closer (but ultimately decided well before the deadline) were the battles between Mary Jane Watson-Parker and Lois Lane and Rick Jones and Jimmy Olsen. With Olsen, Lane and White all down in the first, it’s clear that Superman’s supporting cast is not amongst the most beloved here at Rumble Pants.

And now we’re on to round two: Batman’s butler vs. Spidey’s editorial nemesis. Spidey’s wife vs. his long-time girlfriend. Jim Gordon, Mr. Law & Order, vs. Amanda Waller, Ms. “What Congress Doesn’t Know Won’t Hurt ‘Em.” And Daredevil’s law partner vs. the Hulk’s longtime sidekick. Who will move on? Well, that’s up to you.

As always, though, it isn’t just about who would be most likely win in each fight; it’s about who you want to win each fight and advance to the next round. Click the bracket thumbnail above to the side to see how the tournament has progressed so far. These polls will close just after midnight on Sunday, October 7th.

Just out of curiosity, where is that picture of Gwen from? I can’t place the artist.

Really? Awesome, I like how he’s picked up a John Romita Sr. vibe with that drawing. What book was it in? I’d like to see more of this.

I can’t believe that the Wall is getting beaten so badly! Whether in terms of sheer badassedness or even just in coolness, Waller would so squash Gordon! Don’t get me wrong. I love Gordon, but Waller is just so much better!

  7. Maybe Gordon proves that good people are better than those that walk “the dark side.” What struck me as interesting was that MJ vs. Gwen. I am glad MJ is leading.

  8. Waller doesn’t walk “the dark side.” She walks ON Darkseid.

Yeah, Joe Quesada!!! Are you reading this?? MJ — you know, Spidey’s wife of at least 15 years? — is leading!

In good conscience I could not vote for Gwen after she willingly gave her virtue to Norman Osborn.

I’m disappointed in you people, Amanda Waller needs to win. Gordon’s cool, but c’mon, what’s he done lately?

Foggy is beating Rick jones? C’mon: Foggy has only ever sidekicked for DD. Rick has sidekicked for practically everyone - he’s a professional/journeyman supporting character. Has Alfred every been headhunted by the other millionaire playboy superheroes of the DC universe?

it’s always been interesting to me how Gwen dying made her a true love for peter Parker. There really were plenty of stories where she just feels bland

I believe it’s from the X-Statix: Dead Girl mini series that came out awhile back.
