Rumble Pants VIII: Sweet Sixteen
What is Rumble Pants? Well, the Panteon has decided to play at god once more. We take a few select comic characters and pit them against one another for our amusement, but we figured why keep the fun all to ourselves? So we decided on a format that would require your participation and will hopefully provide amusement for you at the same time. The format is a single elimination tournament with weekly rounds decided by you, the reader. Just keep reading to help decide the ultimate fate of some of your favorite comic characters!
As always, we’re starting at the Sweet Sixteen stage. Welcome to our special Halloween Round, featuring spooky characters from Marvel, DC and around the rest of the comics universe! Instead of a hero and villain division, this time we’ve got “Major Mojo,” featuring the big and powerful names you all know, up against “Parlour Tricks” which features characters who are a little more obscure, but in some quarters just as beloved. If you’ve got a Parlour Tricks favorite, though, now is the time to start campaigning for them, because they’ve got their work cut out for them, no matter who they wind up battling in the finals!
As always, though, it isn’t just about who would be most likely win in each fight; it’s about who you want to win each fight and advance to the next round. Click the bracket thumbnail above to the side to see how the tournament has progressed so far. These polls will close just after midnight on Sunday, November 4th.

Shop smart, shop S-mart! Ash all the way baby!

QuoteConstanine v. Dr Strange. Probably the coolest matchup I have seen in Rumble Pants.

QuoteGo Faith, she is kicking Blade’s butt!
Haunted Tank all the way!
Looks like B.P.R.D. is a strong contender in this round, wonder how the next round will treat them?
Great match ups!

QuotePoor Nocturnals never stood a chance, one of the more lopsided match-ups I think.
Ghost rider and the Demon are neck and neck so far.
And poor Brother Voodoo getting beat out by inanimate object. Though I’m guessing Haunted Tank is animated object, cause despite seeing many times over the years I’ve never read and issue of Haunted Tank

QuoteI would have liked to have seen The Walking Dead vs BPRD but Ash is kicking TWD’s butt. I mean Ash? Really? Ash?

QuoteThe Haunted Tank is destined to win. Didn’t it win the “select a hero” poll for Power Company?
31 Oct 2007 at 10:43 am
QuoteIsn’t Haunted Tank possessed by the spirit of a Confederate general? I smell veiled racism in anyone who voted for him over Brother Voodoo.

QuoteHey Ash only does one thing well: killing hordes of the undead!

QuoteBRPD are far too popular and cool to be in the parlor tricks division. Heck, Abe alone could win the category.

QuoteIs Dr. Strange the first character to get a second shot? A veteran of Rumble Pants I, he took down Dr. Fate before losing to Squirrel Girl (ugh).
Apparently the experience hasn’t done him much good as he’s looking to lose to John Constantine (boo).

QuoteWow. I thought Nocturnals would have a better showing. I loved that book. Something about fish with mammary glands is oh so wrong and yet oh so right.

QuoteThis was a really cool treat to see this morning guys! I enjoy all the Rumble Pants, but this one was special, love the holiday theme!

QuoteOff topic, but Rand-Man, did you notice the surprise appearance of a certain 90s favorite in the DCU Inifnite Halloween Special?
31 Oct 2007 at 3:25 pm
QuoteOops. He *is* the first character to get a second chance, because I didn’t look carefully enough at the first rounds and had forgotten he was in it.
Yep, but it wasn’t enough to make me like the book.

QuoteIt was great to see him again, though. Too bad Butch Guice is a Marvel exclusive.

QuoteAs I write this, the battles between Blade and Faith, Ghost Rider and The Demon, and John Constantine and Doctor Strange are being decided by somewhere between 10-15 votes. That’s a pretty slim margin, and these battles are clearly not over yet.
The others, though, barring a come-from-behind rally by Brother Voodoo to overcome his 50 vote deficit, seem to be more or less decided.
I’ll be curious to see who wins those top three battles when the whole thing closes on Sunday, though. Right now, only one of my choices is winning.

QuoteStay Strong Faith!

QuoteThis has to end with Ash against the BPRD.
Hell, that needs to be a comic. Such a fun comic….

QuoteI voted dr strange over jc becuse JC’s rules on magic make me think that the dablers in magic that know might really cast spells. Nobody needs that
