Rumble Pants X: Elite Eight

logo.jpgWhat is Rumble Pants? Well, the Panteon has decided to play at god once more. We take a few select comic characters and pit them against one another for our amusement, but we figured why keep the fun all to ourselves? So we decided on a format that would require your participation and will hopefully provide amusement for you at the same time. The format is a single elimination tournament with weekly rounds decided by you, the reader. Just keep reading to help decide the ultimate fate of some of your favorite comic characters!

It’s the elite eight round of the Indie Round, and there were some surprises, some close races and some absolutely brutal beatdowns in the Sweet Sixteen stage. Sonic triumphed over Owly by only 1 vote, and Amazing Screw-On Head lost by a mere 4 votes to The Maxx. On the other hand, The Tick beat Flaming Carrot like it was a sport, winning by over 200 votes, and Tara Chace must have taken Amy Racecar out with a sniper shot from a distance, winning by 111 votes.

As always, though, it isn’t just about who would be most likely win in each fight; it’s about who you want to win each fight and advance to the next round. Click the bracket thumbnail above to the side to see how the tournament has progressed so far. These polls will close just after midnight on Sunday, December 23rd.

  1. Having to choose between The Tick and Scott Pilgrim just hurts.

In fact, my ultimate indie tag-team match would be Scott Pilgrim & The Tick vs Street Angel & The Maxx…

I’m still in shock that Sonic made it to a second round.

    Who voted for him?

    WHO, DAMN YOU?!!

Bones easily beat Sonic, so all things balance out. Sadly, it will be a tough match up with Bone. v. Tick. Madman vs. Melaka is a bit easier (to me, anyway). The Bones vs. Madman? Tick vs. Madman?

1 vote. It just killed me to have to give it to Sonic, but the votes had spoken. Your Showtime alter ego may be a serial killer, but being the deciding vote on Sonic might be worse. ;)

I hear Wormy murdered Knuckles and buried him in a shallow grave, though. ;)

The Tick is nigh invulnerable…As much as I love Scott Pilgrim, for me, he’s no match for the Tick.

    Spooon!

Right now, Tara Chace has a pretty good lead, but I’m still worried about her. My dream match-up for the final two would be Tara Chace vs. The Tick. I think my head would explode!

So much for “everybody loves Scott Pilgrim”. I guess quite a few people love the Tick. I guess I’ve got to go find the first trade of that or something…

But does the Tick have the power of love??? I had to vote for Scott, despite my tick love. Honestly though this is the first Rumble Pants where I will be happy if someone from each brackett were to win out. As long as the someone is the Bone clan :-)

I’m still in shock that Sonic made it to a second round.

I voted for him. I don’t read the comic, but I am an old school video game guy. I am glad to see that he is still popular.

My old school SEGA past was very disappointed when I voted for the Bones. I still think they could go all the way!

Man, is he running for President? Or at least VP? I think I would vote for him based on that speech. How about an Obama/Tick campain at least?

Oh and I still voted for Scott Pilgrim. Obviously he can’t run for President because he is Canadian.

I know it’s just a misspelling, Rob, but the phrase “smoker pole” had me giggling like a schoolgirl.
