Rumble Pants XI: Final Four

logo.jpgBy popular demand, Rumble Pants is back! What is Rumble Pants? Well, the Panteon has decided to play at god once more. We take a few select comic characters and pit them against one another for our amusement, but we figured why keep the fun all to ourselves? So we decided on a format that would require your participation and will hopefully provide amusement for you at the same time. The format is a single elimination tournament with weekly rounds decided by you, the reader. Just keep reading to help decide the ultimate fate of some of your favorite comic characters!

The couples fight continues with round three, the final four. One of the longest married couples in comics faces off with a couple that has only been married on alternate Earths, while a pair of mutants in love faces off with a mutant/synthezoid match. Is it a Newlywed Game style “who knows each other better?” game, a brawl to the finish or some kind of bizarre swinging contest? Well, that’s up to each reader to decide as they cast their votes.

Because as always, it isn’t just about who would be most likely win in each fight; it’s about who you want to win each fight and advance to the next round. Click the bracket thumbnail above to the side to see how the tournament has progressed so far. These polls will close just after midnight on Saturday, April 26th.

The second matchup was a tough choice. On the one hand Scarlet Witch has been ruined (perhaps more so than any other Marvel character), but if she’s fighting alongside the Vision in a couples battle, it’s the non-ruined version right? Conundrum.

Not at all tough… Kitty and Vision share the same powers, but Kitty’s phasing shortcircuits all electronics… Down goes the android and Wanda is subdued by a subtle lovetap from Colossus.

Unless of course its Bendis Wanda they’re facing… In that case, Vision will throw up baby Ultrons that keep Kitty distracted long enough for Wanda to sleep with Colossus. Cos that’s good storytelling, ya know.

Vision phases through Colossus, rendering him unconscious. Wanda hexes Kitty making her solid, Vision increases his density and bonks her on the nogging. Case closed, no applause please, really.

Anyone else have trouble with the first match-up? I loves me the concept of Batman and Catwoman, but at the same time, I gotta go with the first married couple of comics (not oldest, necessarily, but generally the only married couple consistently written well. Well, at least used to be).

So, Mr. Fantastic and Invisible Woman win for me… but it was a difficult decision!

  5. So we’re headed for X-Men versus Batman? Blah. These popularity contests are nothing but a popularity contest.

I dunno- It’s still relatively close. It might be Fantastic Four vs. Avengers. I can hope, anyway!

Just so you know, I totally heard this in a disgruntled Homer Simpson voice. And it cracked me up. :)
