It’s that time again boys and girls. So, grab your ankles and prepare for impact. I’m updating the site software again to address a security hole in older versions of WordPress. The site, the RSS feeds, and the podcast will be in various states of usability throughout the day. Feel free to keep using the site during the process, but if something doesn’t work right, don’t come whining to me until the update is finished.

If you really need somebody to complain to, Contact your Congressman and let him know that your tax dollars would be better spent on improving comics related websites, like ours, than on corporate welfare.

We’re open up for business on Cafe Press! We wanted some Comic Pants shirts to wear to conventions, and we hoped our readers might dig them too. Plus this whole Merch thing gives D3 an excuse to get models to pose in Comic Pants merch for him.

Be the first kid on your block to sport our official shirts. There’s a several themed sections including a rotating section of miscellaneous themes like jokes from the podcast and such. We have a wide variety of shirts and other apparel. Don’t forget to take a closer look at the Get Pantsed thong.

Due to a shipping error that seems to have affected our region’s comic shops, Wednesday Number Ones will be delayed until tomorrow. We apologize for the delay. Well, really, the shipper should apologize for the delay, but we’re doing it anyways. Why? Because we’re just that awesome. Three of the Comic Pants crew (Dan Grendell, David Martindale and Nick Budd) will be attending the Wizard World Texas in Dallas this Saturday. The other two members of the Panteon (Randy Lander and Dave Farabee, natch) will be there on Sunday. We’ll just be cruising around, talking to people, checking out the sights… nothing earth-shattering. We’d love to meet any of our fans in attendance, maybe even go out and grab lunch, so if you’re going to be at the show, drop us an email or just make sure and say hi if you’re there!

Many of you may have noticed that we were down for all of Monday and some of Tuesday. We had a server crash at our hosting company and they had to migrate everything over to a new server. We should be up and running now, but if there are any other outages, they’ll be related to that. Unfortunately, these glitches delayed a few features that were meant to go up on Sunday and Monday, and real-life scheduling has interfered with getting them up at this point. So the next part of the “Top Six” podcast, while more or less complete, probably won’t go up until this weekend at the earliest. But we hope that the site won’t bug out again, and we’ll be able to bring you Wednesday Number Ones as usual on Wednesday (albeit maybe a little late, as it’s going to be a busy Wednesday for the gang in real life). In addition, work continues on the super-delayed Fat Pants July (should be this week) and has begun on next month’s Down the Line and Manga Zubon. So, many updates should flow soon! Sorry for the delays!

I’m not going to mention who we use, but it’s been one headache after another. At least 95% of the technical problems with our site have been server side, and the frequency of MySQL server crashes is insane. The most recent crash corrupted some of our data in the wordpress database. So the site might not look so great for the next 24 hours or so while I try to get things back to normal. I would love to hear any suggestions for a new shared hosting solution. What I’m looking for more than anything else is stability. We have weekly crashes that last for hours and tech support that doesn’t care, and it’s driving me insane!

We’re taking a week or two off from podcasting here at Comic Pants. Basically, everybody is pretty busy with everyday life stuff, and so we decided to take a break, recharge our batteries and come back at podcasting fresh. Not to worry, Wednesday Number Ones, Rumble Pants and Top Five Fridays will continue as usual, and with any luck we’ll manage to get a few more reviews out there as well.

In the meantime, here’s what we need from you guys, preferably posted in the comments below: Topics. And lots of them. What do you want to hear us talk about in upcoming podcasts? We’ve got a few ideas, but we can always use more, and this is your chance to point us in a direction you’re interested in listening to.

We here at Comic Pants like to hear what you think about changes we make to the site. You’ve asked for more manga content, so here it is- a new monthly column, like unto our Fat Pants column, but dealing strictly with manga released each month. What struck our fancy? What did we think was a good read? What new and cool ideas appeared this month in books read backwards? Of course, we can’t read everything, but we’re sure gonna try.
